UNTITLED by Michael Glawogger & Monika Willi – After the sudden death of Michael Glawogger in April 2014, his longstanding collaborator Monika Willi realizes a film out of the stunning, eye opening footage Glawogger shot in the last months of his life in the Balkans, Italy, North and West Africa. HOSTAGES by Rezo Gigineishvili – Soviet Georgia, 1983. Preparations for a wedding are in full swing – but for the newlyweds and their friends, this celebration is actually part of a cover-up, as they plot an audacious escape from the Soviet Union. Based on the true story of a hijacking gone wrong.

Berlinale Classics

AVANTI POPOLO by Rafi Bukaee – Director Rafi Bukaee’s debut film Avanti Popolo (1986), a tragicomedy about the absurdity of war, is one of Israeli cinema’s most significant auteur films. Bukaee’s film turns clichés and stereotypical images of Israelis and Arabs upside down, and for the first time in the history of Israeli film, Arab protagonists were portrayed by Arab actors. Bukaee’s controversial masterpiece, which caused furor among some Israeli politicians at the time of its release, has been restored by the Jerusalem Cinematheque.
